Wowsers, it’s Xmas eve already! Hasn’t 2014 flown by? And what a great year it has been…
JOIN ME IN REMINISCING
This year has been one of the most exciting at StandBy Method Acting Studio, the year began on an all time high after finishing a sell out run of The Grinch and growing again with even more fresh faced students coming through our doors to train in the art of method acting – our Shooting Stars Studio & Young People’s Studio numbers doubled, monthly Actors Business Meetings were opened to help those wanting to make it professionally learn the business of acting, our first ever combat for stage & screen course took place with the delightful & highly skilled Michael Justice, which went down a storm, our Summer production of Alice In Wonderland SOLD OUT, a 4 night run of Oliver Twist has finished only this week, I wrote and launched StandBy’s very first eBook “45 essential acting tips to kickstart your career”, which has been given away free of charge and in between all that our popular acting technique classes were jam-packed full of eager students bursting to learn the method of acting that was made popular by old-school Hollywood greats, Brando, Monroe, DeNiro etc . How could I forget – a second Adult Studio (introduction to method acting) was opened…. And breathe!
THE BIT YOU ALL REALLY WANT TO HEAR – Our actors success.
Well there’s no point in training actors if we aren’t going to encourage them to be successful. Our most successful actor is Luke Goddard, who has been training with StandBy for almost 4 years and has only ever missed 1 class. This year he has stacked up a whopping 7 PAID acting roles – one of these was working alongside Monty Python Star Carol Cleveland, hats off to Luke! Independent film “Our Father”, which Luke plays the lead in has racked up over 15,000 views on YouTube and that’s just the trailor – WELL DONE LUKE! bit.ly/ourfathertrailor Luke puts his success down to having the determination to keep going, not taking no for an answer and having the self belief that he is the right person for the job!
Another of our successful actors is Mr. Simon Naylor who took the brave decision to quit his full time job to pursue acting. Simon has in his first year of acting had 3 PAID acting roles, one playing the lead in a music video for an American house DJ, the second being a commercial for Wilkos and the third… well Wilkos loved him so much they asked him to do another.
Our very own Shooting Stars Studio actor – the lovely Elissa was chosen to be in her very first independent film and 5 of our Young People’s Studio actresses were privileged enough to have a film director come to the studios to do an exclusive audition with them for the leading role in an independent feature film – outside of her scheduled auditions.

SO WHAT DOES 2015 HAVE IN STORE?
Well it promises to be even bigger than 2014 – is that even possible? With more courses being introduced, here’s a little taster of what you can expect – Children’s Easter method acting programme (stage combat, acting & singing), monthly actors career development courses, which have been updated & improved, a summer school, an exclusive opportunity to take your BADC stage combat examination, there will be even more freebies available for you all and MUCH MUCH MORE
