Are you giving your imagination the best chance?

Lee Strasberg, the man who developed “The Method” which is used by MILLIONS of actors around the world once said

and I couldn’t agree more.

YES SO….
You see, our mind plays a huge part in our acting whatever stage we’re at.

AND?
Well, have you ever found yourself struggling with a character?
You can’t get to grips with it?
You don’t enjoy it?
You dread it?
You’re completely confused?
or you just can’t seem to “get it”?

If any of these sound familiar to you, you’re probably holding back and not nurturing your imagination.

SO WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Now you’ve established that, the first thing to do before anything is discover what you LOVE in your character; allow yourself to fall in love with this person the way you might a “real” person. Allow yourself the opportunity to go on a journey. This might sound like namby pamby “stuff” but trust me with this one IT WORKS.
Identify with this person. How do you relate? How do you connect? What do you have in common? Discover everything you can about this person. Isn’t that how all relationships are built?

AND THAT WILL STOP ME HOLDING BACK?
Absolutely! Why? Because in your mind you have already created a connection to this person, it’s becoming real – you’re freeing yourself up; you’re BELIEVING in the character .

Remember

“the character comes alive when you believe in what you’re doing”
