The director puts on a fake smile and says thanks it was lovely to meet you, and yet the moment that actor is out of the room they can relax and cross their fingers that the next audition is better.

Pleeeease let this next actor be what we’re looking for!” they pray. 

There are common mistakes or “blunders” that actors make in auditions that hinder them progressing to the next round and being successful.
